I bought my first cactus about 10 years ago, and despite numerous attempts on it's life by overwatering, underwatering and way to small pots, it's still pretty healthy. Why cacti?
I've had a lot of potted plants in my life. Most of them died on me, mostly because I forgot them during times when I was too busy. Cacti on the other hand, don't care if they dry out for a month. Actually they have to dry out between waterings, otherwise they are prone to rot.
Personality of cacti
Cacti are tought, robust but slow, stable, and long-lasting. Most of them do not brag like many other plants, by putting out a lot of flowers. But when they do, it's like if they had be working on those flowers forever. Some flowers are even bigger that the plant itself. And many of them are just beautiful beyound recognition.
